π± Rhizocore Planting in Australia π±
We are thrilled to highlight our valued customers, whose dedication to sustainable forestry has made significant advancements possible. Their leadership and collaboration are driving progress across Australia, and we are proud to support their innovative projects. Below, we provide an overview of the key projects in which we are currently engaged:
Forico
As Tasmaniaβs largest plantation manager, Forico oversees 150,000 hectares of managed land and conducts the nation's most extensive hardwood replanting program, with over six million trees planted annually. Their pioneering Natural Capital Report, now in its fourth iteration, sets a benchmark for the valuation of natural assets. Forico is also one of our first customer to be planting our rhizopellets, underscoring both their leadership in sustainable forestry and broader opportunities for innovation in natural capital accounting.
Carbon + Biodiversity Pilot
In collaboration with the Australian National University and funded by the Federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, this initiative serves as a pivotal experiment in integrating carbon sequestration with biodiversity enhancement. Focused on a 40-hectare trial site, the pilot examines market-based incentives for landowners, with an emphasis on the restoration of endangered ecosystems, such as the White Box-Yellow Box-Blakely's Red Gum Grassy Woodland. Our contributions are integral to the restoration strategies employed in this project.
Co2 Australia
As one of Australia's foremost environmental project managers, Co2 Australia has established over 33 ACCU Scheme projects and facilitates the planting of more than two million mixed native species annually. Our partnership aims to enhance fungal diversity within restoration sites while also scoping additional initiatives, particularly in New South Wales and Victoria. This collaboration enables the expansion of large-scale conservation projects, leveraging fungal biodiversity to promote ecosystem resilience.
SFM
SFM manages over 50,000 hectares of hardwood and softwood plantations across Tasmania and the Green Triangle, playing a critical role in sustainable timber asset management. Through their 'Active Acre' initiative, SFM is transforming underutilized land into productive timber-growing areas. Our collaboration focuses on the synergistic integration of carbon sequestration practices with sustainable forestry, thereby reimagining conventional land management strategies to optimize ecological and economic outcomes.
Greening Australia
Greening Australia, a key player in large-scale ecosystem restoration, recently conducted a trial involving ECM (ectomycorrhizal)-inoculated Ribbon Gum trees. The inoculated specimens demonstrated significantly enhanced growth rates compared to non-inoculated counterparts, exemplifying the potential of fungal inoculation to bolster resilience and accelerate restoration efforts in degraded environments. These findings have promising implications for the application of fungal technology in future restoration projects.
This milestone reaffirms our commitment to advancing the role of fungal symbiosis in sustainable forestry and environmental restoration, in collaboration with some of the sectorβs most esteemed partners. We are eager to share further developments as these projects evolve and mature.
