TPIF Case Study:

Scaling Tree Resilience from Soil to Canopy

We’re excited to share that Rhizocore Technologies has been featured in a new case study published by the Forestry Commission. The study showcases our work supported by the Tree Production Innovation Fund (TPIF) and highlights the role of mycorrhizal fungi in building healthier, more resilient woodlands.

Restoring Fungal Networks with Rhizopellets

At the heart of the project is our flagship product, Rhizopellets—a simple, scalable solution that delivers native mycorrhizal fungi directly to planting sites. These fungi form symbiotic relationships with tree roots, improving water and nutrient uptake, enhancing drought resilience, and reducing the need for chemical inputs.

Thanks to TPIF funding, we’ve been able to expand production, carry out targeted trials, and collaborate with key partners across the UK to measure real-world impact. This includes work with Cheshire Wildlife Trust, where Rhizopellets were used to support broadleaf planting efforts across challenging sites.

From Research to Real-World Impact

The case study highlights not only the ecological benefits of using mycorrhizal fungi, but also the practical ones—stronger establishment rates, reduced sapling mortality, and lower replanting costs. It reflects Rhizocore’s core mission: to bridge cutting-edge science with forestry that works on the ground.

As we continue working with landowners, NGOs, local authorities, and infrastructure partners, this recognition reinforces the value of integrating soil biodiversity into long-term woodland strategy.
